Coastal Bend Pride Center Scholarship Program 

The Pride Center at the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation is proud to offer a Student Scholarship Program to the Coastal Bend community for college, trade school, and university students who want to further their education and help to achieve their career goals. If you are interested in applying, please carefully read the information below, where you will find an overview of the program’s eligibility requirements, scholarship guidelines, and the scholarship application.

Program Overview 

• Academic scholarships are available to Pride Center community members, both LGBTQ+ identifying students and allies, who are adults living in the 12-county region that the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation and the Pride Center serve.

• The Pride Center will offer three scholarships for the Fall 2025 semester: one $5000 and two $2500 scholarships. A panel of the Pride Center staff and the Wellness Foundation will announce the recipients of the scholarship in June of 2025. Recipients will receive the funds for general academic use upon proof of registration and enrollment at an accredited academic institution. 

• Scholarships can be applied towards any of the following programs from colleges or universities accredited by a nationally recognized institutional accrediting agency:

• An associate's degree

• A bachelor’s degree

• A certificate program

• A master’s degree

Note: Doctoral programs are not eligible for reimbursement.

Scholarship Funding Requirements 

• Scholarship dollars can be applied towards any school-related expenses, such as tuition, books, testing, or other school fees.

• The applicant must identify as part of or supportive of the LGBTQ+ community or an active LGBTQ+ ally and show evidence of active participation in Coastal Bend Pride Center groups & events, the Pride Center Youth Group, or be an active community volunteer.

• The scholarship will be paid to the applicant at the beginning of the Fall semester with proof of enrollment.

• Applicants will have to reapply for scholarship requests each year in the fall to be considered. This is a once-a-year award in the fall.

Application Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must complete the Pride Center Scholarship submission form below, including three 300-word essay questions.

• Applicants must maintain satisfactory academic performance standing throughout the application and enrollment process.

• Applicants must ensure the educational institution is accredited or has recognized professional accreditation for specific courses to which they are enrolling.
